I lost all my hens to foxes... well, all my hens HEADS! They kindly left the bodies scattered about for my 20 year old son and I to find at 4am.... :-(
Then last month my cat was run over, we buried him .. two days later as my 13 and 11 year old were leaving for school at 6:30am they came crying back in to the house.. the foxes had dug Inky up and left him on the doorstep!!!!
We buried him again and a bit deeper and the next morning there he was again on the front path staring at the boys as they left for school..
Buried him again, covered his grave in heavy stuff and low and behold the next day there he was again on the path.. they had dug a tunnel to get him!
By this time I had gone from "Thats what foxes do" to "Im going to f*cking kill every single fox on the planet!!"... why not take the cat? Why just dump him every day on the path ffs? grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
So.. we dug a hole that was 4 foot deep, poured bleach on it... stuck Inky in a bag, then in another bag and drizzled bleach on it, then in another bag with more bleach... then in another bag and in to the hole and poured bleach on that.... stamped down the grave, poured more bleach on it and stuck rubbish bins on it...
so far so good... 2 weeks and he hasn't been dug up..
Not the most dignified funeral for the cat and not very pleasant for us.
We do refer to him as Zombie cat now though lol ... I guess it's our way of coping with the nastiness of it all.
Anyone remember the cartoon.. "The cat came back.. the very next day"... yup it was like that.
