The only guaranteed red mite clearance I've ever carried out was with Ficam W. I've always kept red mite under control with ant powder and regular creosoting, but if houses/coops/arks are going to be out of use for some time, then they get a major clean-up and sprayed with Ficam-W inside and out so that when properly dried out I can creosote (weather permitting) and leave until I have a use for them. It's not nice stuff to use, it's very expensive, and it works. Spraying the outside at the same time is essential. I swear red mite can walk through walls.
Guinea fowl & a lot of surplus poultry equipment.
