Cream Legbar Crosses

Postby truegrit » 07 Jun 2012, 08:16

We've bred a cockerel who we were led to believe is a Cream Legbar, with 2 genuine CL girls. I'm not sure he is a CL now.
We've ended up with 3 daughters and 5 sons but they all look different! I have my own thoughts on what dad might be and the progeny but expert help would be appreciated. By the way, we're not breeding to sell - it's just a bit of educational fun for the children.
Pix of dad, sons and daughters are in a photobucket album:

Many thanks in advance...

Your cockerel is not a Cream Legbar because:-

1) He is gold rather than cream
2) He does not have a single comb

It would be hard to predict what kind of cross he is and therefore can give no explanation as to the chicks colours.
If you have nothing
Give it away

As Hen-Gen says, he's not a CLB. I assume you're going to eat his male progeny and keep the pullets for eggs. Whatever you do, don't sell any of the males, since one of them does manage to look like a CLB. The pullets don't but may well lay green/blue eggs which is always fun.
Guinea fowl & a lot of surplus poultry equipment.

Thank you both. The boys won't be breeding!
