'Wet eggs'

Post by organic chick » 23 May 2016, 21:11

Our French Wheaten Maran lays the most beautiful dark brown eggs, but they always seem 'wet' when first laid and all the stuff in the nest boxes sticks to them (we used paper shreddings.) Any idea why her eggs are different from all the other hens we have?

Must be a Maran thing,my cuckoo marans are similar,i just out it down to an over production of ink,i give them a minute or two to dry off and then gently rub off any shavings that have stuck to them.
