Hey i am new to this site. I am hatching Ixworth crosses at the moment. I brought them off a bloke but the eggs were the wrong colours for the breed standard. Therefore cannot be pure Ixworth.
I am in Cornwall and would love some pure Ixworths, does anyone have any hatching eggs, or chicks/ chickens for sale?

Took delivery of 5 four day old Ixworth chicks yesterday - I was going to place them under a heat lamp in my garage but instead intoduced them to Maisy one of my broody hens who already had one chick - broody Maisy has accepted them and this morning all were alive and well and hiding under her wings :) They are following her around everywhere and she is very defensive if anything comes near. Will post some photos when I get home.

My Ixworth chicks are no over a month old and are coming on in leaps and bounds. I have no idea yet if they are hens or cocks but they are the start of my Ixworth breeding colony. Any cocks will either be given away or end up in the pot. If there are any Ixworth keepers out there who live in Norfolk, Suffolk or North Herts/ North Essex and who have a spare cockerel thats a few months old I will glady take him off your hands as I need an unrelated cockerel to eventually breed with any hens amongst my chicks.

I am happy with my chicks although one has remained smaller than the others. I eventually plan to replace my ex-battery hens with a flock of Ixworths. I will know in a few months how many hens and cockerels I have. Trying to pinpoint other Ixworth keepers within a 50 mile radius and then try and source a nice meaty young and unrelated Cockerel and perhaps a few pols.
