Re: Brahmas
Hi all,
My mother-in-law recently got 2 brahmas and she is trying to find out what colour one is.
We know that the cockerel is a Lemon Pyle but we are trying to work out what the pullet is, she is currently about 10 weeks old.
Can anyone help?

I'm sorry the photos aren't the best, she decided to sit in the small sunny spot which was difficult to get a decent photo from

Re: Brahmas
The far one looks a bit like Blue Silver, but with the Gold being in the colouring as well I'd say its a mix of colours.
Re: Brahmas
Hi son of eddy, someone else has also said this. They think that the colour is a result in crossing a Blue Silver with a Gold.son of eddy wrote:The far one looks a bit like Blue Silver, but with the Gold being in the colouring as well I'd say its a mix of colours.
The sex of the bird is now in question

Re: Brahmas
Would this be the reply?

Sorry to say that I think going by the colouring its a BOY!!Anns Chooks wrote:It certainly does have a lot of solid gold on it which would suggest a cross with a gold.
Usually its the cock birds that carry the solid gold and the hens are partridge marked.
Also it look as though this is a mating between Gold and Blue Silver.

Re: Brahmas

I am 7 months old, a Gold Brahma. My great-great Grandfather was called Trousers and lived here with NannyP 3 years ago.
My brothers (not pure) have recently been introduced to the freezer, and my sister (not pure) just manage to miss that as NannyP had thought she was also a coq. Lucky escape for her. Despite my majestic appearance, I am not top of the pecking order, there are 2 mature Pekin coqs who are in charge. When no one is looking I have my way with some of the hens though. I haven't crowed yet, hoping the pekin coqs won't notice me for longer.

Agreed
It never ceases to amaze me how something so large can be intimidated by something so small

Re: Brahmas
Update for you all, the mismarked blue partridge is indeed a cockerel!
And this is him a couple of days ago strutting his stuff (now 18 weeks old)
