I have one bluebell in a flock of 5. She is the second most friendly, and only loses out to the number one slot because our Lohmann Brown comes looking for people where as I have to go and pick up the Bluebell. It suprising as they are pretty big birds so you would think she would rule the roost, but it really isnt in her nature.

Heres a pic of her a few months ago. She has a much more mature comb now.

Her name is Silver!

Bluebelle Hybrid

Postby woodruffsdad » 30 May 2012, 11:38

What is the correct spelling of this hybrid breed please?

I've seen Bluebelle, Blue Bell, Bluebell, Blue Belle etc. etc.

It would be nice to know what is correct!

I,d say it depends on whatever version of the name Bluebelle whoever breeds them decides to use or which ever one you decide on. :-k

I have 2 of these, very pretty and good layers too, the feathers look like they've been pencil drawn on, and fairly docile too, handleable and get on with the others from the get go, no introduction fighting,,recommended

Re: Sexing Bluebelles

ejc-free wrote:Hi,

I have 2 6-week old bluebelle chicks being raised by a foster mum, having been given them as day olds when Lindi failed to hatch any of the eggs she was determinedly brooding. Any tips for sexing these - or do we just have to wait until they start to crow or not.....

if they are true bluebelles then they will be hens.the commercial breeders who are licensed to breed these kill the cock birds at a day old.hope this helps.
