Re: barbu d'anvers
Hi JC
,
I have a small flock of these adorable birds. The parent birds came from a lady down in Wiltshire (we were staying in one of her holiday cottages) about 5 years ago. Last year 8 out of 10 eggs in the clutch hatched, we gave a friends of ours two of the young hens after she lost about 20 birds to a fox and we now have the two original females, the one remaining daughter and 6 cockerels. We want to keep the father bird and one of his sons. They are around 9 months old and live free range.Do you know of anyone who would want one of the 4 remaining cockerels? They are free to a good home.

Hi I've got a nice little trio will put pics up later but my cockerals really agressive & loud compared to all the others I'm afraid someone will wring his little neck if they get hold of him
that includes humans, feather & fur varieties the cats & other cockerals are scared of him & he tries to chase me off & peck me to if I put them to bed the females are great wonderful little charecters but he's the devil bird or something in a very cute disquise
Also when should this breed start laying as mine were bought as "pullets or pol" I've done it before with differant breeds & had no problem but mine havent laid & egg since I bought them in may / june
do I was wondering if this is right for the breed as I'd quite like to use them for broodies on smaller eggs, by the way just how small are their eggs? pekin size or less ect? many thanks ann x.

Re: barbu d'anvers
I'm really intrigued by these little birds, can I hatch them under a broody bantam and will they live happily when grown up with my bantam and large fowls?
Re: barbu d'anvers
Yes, they are a wonderful breed , very people friendly and Bantams/Large fowl do not worry them at all.
