I keep 3 breeding groups of Sumatras in all 15 birds and of all my breeds I rate Sumatras as one of the most elegant and beautiful.
They are good layers of white eggs and will brood anything including ornamental pheasants.
They are hardy and easily tamed enjoying free-range and wandering around the garden.

The boys are divine. I love that long game fowl shape and the draping tail. I wish I could keep cockerels! The girls just arent that showy. :love7:

I have recently managed to get hold of 3 hens and 2 cockerels and i am not disappointed. They are the black type. was just wondering if anyone has any pictures of the whites, blues or the splash varieties? i have attached a picture of Mohan the older of my two cockerels.

Beautiful birds. I have never kept Sumatras but is it true that they are very hardy and long-lived birds?
