we have a wedding coming up oh daughter she hasn't got a lot of money and 30 people are coming ,her friend who was going to help with the catering has let her down ,oh will only have a day to help her ,i cannot go unfortunately ,any recipes would be appreciated or ideas on amounts,

buffett,,they are having it in the back of a pub ,they have waited for a long time
for this ,keep telling them that i'm a tractor on a beach sort of person and a bbq
after ,but it's not going to happen in Sheffield

ok .plastic plates check they dont bend..................lots of paper serviettes and a box of finger wipe satchets...............then here goes......... buy in or make Pizzas .......cut in finger portions after cooking even if eaten cold...........buy or make up several sauces(easier to buy) Brown /Tomatoe/BBQ/Spicy any differant you can find.................cocktail sausages in big bowls and lots of tooth picks( dont forget a bowl Marked used toothpick saves clearing the floor).........lots of crisps (several flavours).....ready cut cheese cubes and baby bel cut in quarters.............ritz bicuits .....pretzels and cream cheese dip................little white cocktail onions.............sliced FIRM tomatoes( a wee drop of olive oil just as you put them out...............nice bread rolls already half cut thro...........couple of tins of sweet biscuits(mainly for the kids).......Home made quiches cut into finger size slices...........use lardons(bacon cubes) onions tinned mushrooms and pre bought pastry for ease of making.........dont forget to mark the veggy ones.....that will get you started luv from france

thank you mojo ,i'll write lists, order on line ,and hopeful it'll be fine better than ours anyway ,where there just wasn't enough food ,wish i had catered for ours after i saw what was laid out

and for amounts a rough guide is six to eight items a person...............personally id go for 8 ..any left over can be cling wrapped and put in freezer

A good cheap alternative to buying ready made stuff is do it yourself and freeze it. Sausage rolls for instance can be made for about £3 for a hundred with quality ingredients. Good sausage meat, roll your own pastry from sheets. Take ten minutes to prepare, 20 minutes to cook, job done.

Same with veggie or cheese 'n' onion for the non-carnivores

Things like Indian platters are very easy to make, and easy to get right too. Depends how much prep time you can afford really. But in all honesty, we catered for 200 people at our wedding with finger buffet and it cost £200 and few favours. Nothing was wasted, everyone commented on how nice it all was. The venue we had the reception in wanted to charge us £600 for less food.

Aylesbury x Campbells, a breeding colony of Dubia cockroaches.

And a lot of Ibuprofen.

problem is she really doesn't cook and when i say that i mean she really doesn't
she has never learnt ,they have one day tony arrives at 4 am , :?

dont really need to be a cook make lists buy from supermarket econimy packs buy some packs of pretty plastic plates and just serve it up....................even tiny pork pies and precooked chicken legs or nuggets(from Mcd) on the morning..................slice some tomatoes or best use cherry toms even a few sticks of celery in a pint mug help.........scotch eggs cut in half...............sausage rolls (minis_ frozen from supermarket cook the day before..........................it is really a question of thinking about finger food and buying what they can afford and making the table look good.........cut roses from the garden and just spread between the plates ..............good luck do tell how things go

See if you can do a deal with a good local fish and chip shop or curry house .Take away . :grin: I have a friend who owns and runs a first class chippy and she often has Wedding feasts ordered. =D> We went to Folkestone harbour a couple a weeks ago and a Dad was collecting his wedding order from Bobby Shellfish stall , FOUR washing up bowl size tubs of jellied eels , a huge tub of Whelks , Cockles ,Mussels , crab claws and prawns :cheers :slurp :sunny: :
