I need a book for my sister
Can anyone recommend one book I can buy for my sister that not only has pictures and info on "normal" breeds but rarer breeds too? She has a couple of old books but when we are talking chickens and I mention a breed she might like (or I tell her a new breed I have, like the Freisian fowl) she will often text me later and say "it's not in my book". I would like to get her a good all round book for her if possible - or even 2

love me, love my 4 dogs, 3 cats, over 100 chickens (but don't tell OH) and 7 sheep - oops, almost forgot the 2 tanks of fish!
I live in my own little world but it's ok - they know me here!

If you can find a copy of "Colourful Bantams" by John Tarren it's brilliant (and well out of print). Don't be fooled by the very similar book by Michael Roberts, one of the Golden Cockerel series. Although it gives information on the breeds photographed, it doesn't cover anything like the same number. The Tarren is simply an alphabetical arrangement of named photographs - and in most cases there are LF versions of the bantams. Failing that of course, there's always Feathersite.
Guinea fowl & a lot of surplus poultry equipment.

if you are being very generous (or cheap and can find second hand!)
David Scriveners 2 books 'Popular Poultry breeds' and its companion 'Rare Poultry breeds' are v nice indeed

Most of David's books are available through Amazon and most are in stock too.

Somewhere in the back of my mind is the possibility that he inherited the Tarren archive too.
