I've got a coop & I am getting some batties from Lampeter.
Now I would like your thoughts on how many I can get in it. O/H will be making a much larger house & run in a few months time.
They will free range in a very large garden (1 acre) during the day.
Here is the coop. Please give me your thoughts on it.

Measure your house and run then reckon on 1 square foot in house and 1 square yard in run absolute minimum per bird...twice that is better........also reccomend buy in odd numbers 3/5/7/9/ etc it seems to work better

I'd say about 8 ex batts in there. They're used to being really cramped in battery cages, so they would still think that house is a palace after what they've been used to. And if your OH is building a bigger house for them, they won't be in there that long.

It'll also keep them warm at night being huddled together, as they're used to quite high temperatures in battery houses.
