basically
It's only 800 miles away now it's been identified in Italy
the fact that it's now in Africa will be more likely to bring it here
90% of uk summer birds go to the west coast of Africa for the winter
the experts on the show saw AI being here within 6 months |

no it really wasn't that bad ,just talked about washing your hands ,said that because it was closer to us didn't mean any increased risk to human health although he could see the first bird being infected in this country in the next 6 months you have to be in really close contact with birds
to have increased the risk to human health
thought that risk would come from asia or africa as they think many other countries would infected although not admitting it or not noticing it ,stanard gumph really
although the nearest infected cases of birds are 800 miles away
i think tha's everything that was said ,i don't watch the news or read newspapers so don't know if that's the way they are all going or are the rest of the reporting scaremonging |

No mention of 'backyard' poultry keepers though |

well, this will probably speed along defras registrations for ANYONE who keeps poultry/ducks etc now.
these swans seemingly came from infected areas of russia i read........, and sadly all our migrants from africa will now have more chance of picking it up on the way home now, when they stop off in various med countries to eat/drink. if these areas cross over:( i can see my big open chicken runs lying empty this year.just when i was noticing a good covering of grass starting to appear as well. |
