Who knows about beetroot?
I cut off the tops because the remaining leaves looked so pretty, & put them in a saucer of water (like carrot tops)
So, will they grow? |

I don't know, but I do know you can eat the leaves. Small tender ones get used in salads. Larger ones get cooked a bit like spinach.
Or they get cooked as part of the veggie bit of the dogs' dinners.
Or fed to the chooks...
They'd never make it to the windowsil here |

They will possibly keep growing the top for a while, but they wont survive for long |

Can I then plant them outside & will they grow on to mature plants with a crop at the end of it? |

I've never heard of trying that.
If you grow them, they should keep in the ground for quite a while. I've certainly had some before that overwintered and the tops started growing again in spring (would have gone to seed). Some of the roots were a bit nibbled though.. |
