Our neighbours came over to see the new babies and Dave was mnetioning how, chickens and ducks are able to feed themselves from birth whereas wildbirds have to be fed. Chickens, pheasants, ducks, geese, quail....all hatched in ground nests, are able to walk and forage on their own...well, under mum's watchful eye of course. That's my take on it at least.
