Also anyone with orps can you measure the approx height of their back for me so I can position the feeders correctly - pretty please

In one of my coops the perch is about a foot high & one buff has no problem getting up to it....the other im afraid cant be bothered and just sleeps on the floor.........I dont think its often youll find an orp that perches.....but the lower the better !!

Nanny P - *hopefully* next weekend - that's when i'm to ring her - but somewhere I read there is now also newcastle disease in Kent- can't find anything on Defra website so may be (*fingers crossed*) untrue - but don't know if she is in the 'infection' zone or not if it is true
Getting (even more) excited now
Thanks Knobby - but I'll still have to put a perch in I guess because the hybrid will want to perch and maybe the orps will follow suit if I'm lucky ! ?

I put my perch at 6inches, because I have orpington and also pekins as well as the rest of the medley. I didn't want it to be too high for the orpington as I believe they can hurt themselves if they have to jump too far down.

all my perches are a 18" off the ground and all three orpingtons roost happily (and they are big show ones not utility!) the only chicken I've ever had that doesn't like perching on them is a silkie bantam
