When i went to shut the pop hole last night the Blue Belle was missing. The run is 6' and she'd had her feathers cut by the breeder .Unsure of what to do i decided to lock the pop hole and wait til first light. At 4:30 trotted out and found her perched in a 12' high conifer hedge that borders her run. Let her mate the black rock out thinking that Iris[BB] would join her . No such luck Daisy[BR] started to cluck and the decibels began to increase OH stuck his head out the bedroom and said that the noise was dreadful and to lock Daisy a way til a more reasonable time, his language was somewhat riper than that!! About 7:30 he climbed a ladder and got madame down .... not a cluck from her, the tart. He then cut her feathers on her other wing . I have spent the morning trying to reinforce the fencing etc. and grovelling around my neighbor's who thankfully hadn't been woken up. I think that Iris had perhaps been startled and jumped hit the hedge and clambered up decide it was comfy and stayed out. Am just beginning to understand the film chicken run

Haha, one thing. When you clip your chickens wings only do one side.. the purpose being that when they flap they fall to one side. If you clip both it wont have such a gd affect.

She may have been using the wire netting as a climbing frame - see if you can angle the top part over into the run, or cover the top with garden netting.

If they are strong & healthy they will manage a very short flight or jump with one wing clipped. She won't go far though.
