Hi Henwife - I am sure I have read that you use Nippon for your red-mite control. Can you tell me if it's safe to put on the birds - or just for the house? and do you withdraw the eggs at all.

My girls have had a minor red-mite outbreak over the weekend, so the house has been blowtorched and I've put nippon around the cracks and crevices, but was just wondering if it was safe to use on them too?

I know I'm not Henwife. . . . . I wouldn't have thought Nippon would work on redmite at all, it's specifically designed for ants, it's sweet, so they are attracted to it and they take it back to the nest, Redmite won't be attracted to the sweetness as they are blood suckers, but I don't know offhand what the chemical poison is in it, but whatever it is if it does kill redmite I would have though you'd be able to buy it in easier was to administer.

Thanks Itsy, I was just sure I had read it on here somewhere...... Little blighters have been blowtorched anyway so that'll sort them for a short while.
