Can anyone let me know if wood ants are a problem for chickens. I am currently clearing some woodland scrub at the bottom of the garden and intend to house about 6 - 8 hens there and there are a serious amount of ants milling around. Do they eat them? Could ant bites irritate their legs(they irritate mine!) Any feed back would be gratefully received, thanks.

Never had this problem but at a guess I think chickens would be able to deal with them as long as there was no infestation actually in their coop.

The ants may well find themselves a new home if you disturb them too much.
