what would you give your chicken as a treat my first pair would never eat anything accept grass and corn and anything live that was smaller then they were.

My latest hens seem to be a bit more adventures with their food infact they eat pretty much anything that gets dropped in their house.

Pasta & rice (in moderation esp if not wholegrain), sweetcorn, spinach, raisins, cheese (mind your fingers, they'll take them off for a bit of grated cheddar!), sunflower seeds, hemp seeds. Don't give them avocado, it's poisonous, but they will eat most other fruits. Mine won't eat them, but some love cooked potato peelings, carrot peelings etc.

I also give mine catfood once a week, and fish fingers (leftovers). They are getting a little fat Embarassed

it's illegal to feed farmed animal products to livestock including chickens ,any mice ect they find are not farmed ,not saying i agree ,just pointing out Wink
i also worry about too much protein in the diet , saw a program about a bird with gout the other day caused by diet and to much protein can cause kidney problems Wink

I have too many to give lots of treats. But I did buy a bag of super mixed corn which they love as a treat. I also bought bird seed which they clear in seconds. I only give in moderation Very Happy I hoped the extra oil would give a shine to their feathers. But dont want them too fat in case it gives them egg bound

We find the treats that keep them busy are the most fun...for us and them....
Hanging a lettuce above head height. (theirs not mine). lol or another tasty veg.
We also give them a little corn mix some afternoons whilst they are gardening.
