I've got 3 Rylands that are due to lamb the end of the month/early next month - this is their second lambing. Flora isn't due till the 4 April but is very big and i suspect twins (missed the scanning date  ). This afternoon i noticed she didn't finish all her feed (unususal for her she's a gannet!) but looks uncomfortable and is giving little grunts - no signs from the back end yet but she does have udders. Should i just keep an eye on her, or should I be worried? Is this early too early? Can't get hold of the large animal vet at my practice and my sheep farming friend is in London! I'm here on my own - OH away - and this is only my second lambing - everything was to time last year and went well.

I'd keep an eye out for now and see how she goes
are you sure she's not due till the 4th april? |

I marked on the calander as soon as i saw them marked so unless the ram managed without touching then the 4th is her due date. Managed to get hold of the vet and they are calling in on the way back from another visit a bit later. Will keep you posted if i've got any fingers left by then  .

it could be twin lamb, but they usually go really flat with that, treatment sorts them out really fast though |

Vet arrived and found her temp a bit up and her chest was a bit rattley - she had also had a bit of the runs - so he gave her a couple of jabs . She,s up and about again this morning, bright as a button and shouting for food - thank goodness . He too thinks there may be 2 in her as she is aso large but there is no signs yet of labour so we can relax again for a while. He thought the cold snap after the nice (?) weather could have given her a bit of a chill and recommends keeping them all inside till they've lambed. Thanks for the advice, it's really reassuring to be able to shout for help.
