Here yesterday, all stood assessing the order of calving of the Highlands were, 2 very experienced beef and dairy farmers who calve hundreds of cows a year, 2 large animal vets and me and OH. We all agreed Gladys would be last, yet this is what was in the field at 6.ooam this morning. What a rubbish bunch we are .
Gladys with her new baby and OH very gingerly going in to look if bull or heifer, and its a little girl
Gladys's calf last year was born dead

We are having the mother of all battles with the calf. At the moment we are keeping it going with stomach tubing which is not nice. None of the other Highlands have calved yet.
How are you doing up there suz, is the weather terrible? |
