The grass is not growing anymore, but if I sowed some grass seed in an un turfed area, would it germinate at this time of year? Its raining alot which must be ideal, but the lack of growth on my lawn is making me wonder.

I reckon that the grass seed would feed the wild birds a treat but you wouldn't get much growth at this time of year. Better wait till April and then it'll go away really well.

Agree with Kated. Grass doesn't grow below 7 degrees C and the birds are hungry...

I used to try all sorts of things to get grass to grow during the winter months , WASTE OF TIME Wink

April is the earliest you can grow any with sucsess Exclamation

Wait for the spring, then straight after sowing, cover with pegged-down cling film. It'll act like a mini greenhouse, AND keep the greedy birds off too. Gives the grass a good head-start.
