Made a load last week - yes, using sevilles. Have no idea how many pounds as all the jars are different sizes. It was a lot
I love making marmalade, it makes the house smell fantastic. |

How much have you all paid for your Sevilles.
Mine were 48p lb or £1. 08p kg. Little cheaper than last year I think. |

£1.10 a kilo.
I'm not very good at small quantities, I can only do bulk so the last time I made marmalade was before the foot & mouth year, I used to have a stall at shows selling homemade fudge and also a few jams & preserves, I bought a crate of Sevilles, quite possibly in year 2000, and made it all into marmalade - well over 100 jars , then I stopped doing the shows . . . . . it's taken me till the middle of 2006 to get through it all I have missed it though these last few months.

I've made between 90lb-110lb every year for the last 15 years
110lb last year-think I posted a pic - and only a couple of jars left. Going for about 90lb this year as I'm try to lose weight. |

Oooh well done - I always thought you were a girl after my own heart or vice versa A friend gave me a 1lb jar of borage honey for collecting some beekeeping stuff for him & I managed to woof the whole lot in 3 days, what worries me most about this disgusting lack of self control is the fact that I've just started keeping bees!
D'ya think that not consuming 20 jars of marmalade in a year is a good diet? sounds like a plan to me

| changing the flavour slightly is great fun if you make a lot..................plus teaspoon of whisky try the following .amount for a pound jar .put in before filling............quater teaspoon ginger..teaspoon honey...........pinch mix spice.........teaspoon favorite alchol spirit............minute pinch curry powder.............3 drops veg colouring(try blue for kids)..........quater teaspoon lime or lemon juice.........lime or lemon skin in finest strips....... odd but nice choclate chips...........but the the blue is the most fun dont forget to label it "blue orange marmalade" |
