seeing the link this morning for egg colour i noticed it was raining ,and putting off going out for a while ,thought i'd have a look ,
well there is a chicken called the italiener ,so being nosy i thought i'd have a look on the seach engine ,wondering if my italian that i haven't spooken for a little while is up to phoning an italian breeder Embarassed

,oh yes and i speak a dielect so if they came from a different region they wouldn't understand anyway Wink

there are naked necks on there as well ,ordinary and commerical ones Shocked

,there are quite a few english breeds of chickens as well
some pretty pics ,still haven't found a pic of italieners
i never knew anyone when i was over there that breed chickens ,i always saw them for sale in the market on a small stall after church on a sunday in shoe boxes ,the boxes where marked white chicks ,speckled chicks or brown chicks ,as day olds or a couple of days older and you would chose one out of which colour you wanted ,as little child i though chicks where born in shoe boxes poor hen Shocked

my nonna (grandmother ) would buy me and my brother 2 each each year ,but she had a large flock anyway Wink

Page 2 of the Italian breeds says something to the effect that Livorno or Leghorns are also known as Italianers. Only a quick glean, so I may be wrong.

your probably right henwife ,i was going though quickly
i love the pics they remind me of the old ones that we used to see ,i also noticed in one pic there was a lot of cockerals that looked full grown ,and i was tring to find out information on breeding yards that we used to have here i think pre world war 2 ,where there where lots of cockerls and hens in a yard
haven't been able to find a lot of info ,but have seen pics somewhere ,just out of interest really
