of course you'd be welcome to come and stay Very Happy ,it's funny my goats don't go anywhere near the electric fence even when it's off it's a nightmare getting them out of the feild as it's splilt in 2 and there is no gate betewn the 2 i have to get one of the ckids to hold the wire up and walk a goat underneath ,they don't want to and you can see them thinking yeh right we'll be underneath it and you'll drop it Twisted Evil ,kevin from the crofters who knows your brother in law by the way jaydee, has said i can have a hefier as soon as it's weaned next year ,if i'm still interested i think his ones come from the shetland center but where brought over from shetland ,i've asked around at the crofters and other places and there are no pure dexters on the island ,there are 3 highland x dexters though ,so it looks as if a dexter is off the cards as i wouldn't buy anything this important without seeing it and meeting it ,and as some people know i don't do the minch Wink Embarassed

it's a good excuse Wink
sea sickness pill and woke up here Shocked
if i left the island my dad would expect me to stay with him for a few days , then my mother the same then there is all the other people that would like me to stay with them and as i wouldn't want to hurt any of them ,then it's just easier if i don't leave the island Wink ,i wouldn't get back for about a month Shocked ,and i couldn't leave anyone to look after the animals ,they are mine not really oh's ,so i couldn't expect him to cope ,the blue men are a good excuse Laughing
and i'm not sure that after living here i could cope with the mainland again ,we never lock out car ,you can leave your handbag on a trolley in the shop and it'll be there when you get back ,and the sheep would miss me Very Happy
i know all excuses Embarassed
i think my father is disappionted as his cousin owns the apple
herd (dexters ) Wink

well i'm sad to say the house cow is on hold ,everytime i think i can cope with that something else worries me about it,one day maybe Confused
2 things put me off
1 as soon as i get a cow it's tb tests
every year for a while ,and as i cannot say what will happen to the calves ei meat or milk it will be for a while ,
and
2 the story about the chap that feed his cows guinea pig food i know he had been looked at before ,for poor record keeping, not keeping his books properly and tagging ,nonies cows are always loosing their tags Rolling Eyes ,
but the whole of his herd 70 head where destroyed and it wasn't written on the label that there was crushed bone in the feed ,they analized it and found it Crying or Very sad ,not sure about how bad the bloke was ,but i don't know if i could cope ith the ectra ,there is already 2 poultry books to keep ,2 goat books and 2 sheep books
i've got to find something to use up the grass Confused any ideas

yep agreed about the paperwork
Evil or Very Mad
my big boss at the coop asked if i got my cow ,would i be making butter and cheese ,because it would be lovely to sell some of it Shocked ,we do only sell local lamb apart from the frozen new zeland lamb ,it is expensive ,i explained no because of how may rules and regs there are
he was saying when he worked at the butchers next door
a local man from point used to keep 6 milking cows and used to make cheese and butter in pats with a thistle pressed into it , he said the same thing bl**dy paperwork ,i would do it if i was going to have a few ,

well that'll teach me i phoned the svs today (state vet service for those who don't know to find out some info about animal feed batch numbers ,just something that i wanted to know ,the bloke was helpfull
thing is while i was on i thought i'd ask about the cow that i'm keen on
oh was in the back ground shaking his head and this chap was saying it's easier than i thought
spent most of the time trying to convise me that a house cow was no bother
