i was asked yesterday if i'd give daughter a hand yesterday
they where running a bit late they still had the cows to let out into the yard ,they can come and go at will during the night ,
into the barn or yard there is silage in both for them to eat ,they cannot go out on the fields as they would poach it ,
and the hand she wanted was to feed a small new born calf ,it was a couple of hours old and mums milk had not come in yet ,
it was a job i really didn't mind doing ,i helped opening and shutting gates then got lick to death by a trainee bull Shocked
toni was having her hand licked by the heifer Wink ( toni wishs she'd stop doing that to farmers ,who come to buy calves Embarassed ),as we watched the sun go down
it was a lovely way to spend the sunset Very Happy

i had to wait till i got home Wink ,never been in with a calf so young Very Happy
the mums are quite often dangerous ,
vet had 3 broken ribs last ,he said he didn't see the foot coming Rolling Eyes
but it was sperate for a few minutes to feed it ,
poor little thing was nuzzling under your coat to try to find the udder ,
mum went back in and hopefully she had the milk come in later in the evening
times like that just remind me what life is about Embarassed Very Happy
