we are going to get an electric fence to help prevent any fox attacks but want to put an inner run in just in case should we put a top on it what has everyone else done with theirs ?how high have you put the fence in under the soil is there some sort of bottom?we are going to make it inside a 50 metre area to start off so any suggestions or pics really appreciated as we intend on getting our fencing supplies this weekend

i have concreted my weldmesh into the ground, it goes down approx 20 cm deep and it about the same area wide on the surface... as a newbie that's as much advice as i can offer at the moment! Very Happy

sink the mesh 9in in soil with a 9 inch turn towards the outer side.like a L facing the wrong way.........that takes 18 inch off height so allow for that when measureing height......buy as high as you can afford......and small mesh too.....best of luck

well the plans for our run have completely changed or so DH has said his works are kindly giving us a load of sectional fencing metal grid diamond shaped stuff on frames apparently it like cages with roofs that can all be connected together so DH reckons we will not be needing an electric fence but this means we can make the girls run even bigger as we are not having to pay for the materials so what we where going to spend on them we can use to put some form of fencing under the soil under the fencing that we are getting and I'm sure we can salvage anything else we may need its just having time to go and collect it all now and construct it,thanks everyone for the advice Very Happy

I am surrounded by fox filled forest, but the only fox that actually dug its way in, was into the run of a big, moveable ark in which I had pheasant poults. My small brooder arks are all underwired (we demolished the big one as it was too unwieldy) and all my runs have electric netting around them. I'm still trying to sort out the road boundary - the only place the fox has come through.
