If so, what type make and model?
Was recommended to buy one several weeks ago, and now heard interesting research on Radio 4 regarding fruit/veg juice and Altziemers (sp)

Thanks, and why only Mon and Fri?
Add in another day, and it reduces your chances of getting AD quite a bit, apparently. |

We got a "Jack La Lanne" one from QVC - not this model, but close:

Looks simillar to the one ZacB recommends
In our experience its worth getting one that:
1) that has a large shute so you can put eg whole apples in (saves time cutting them up beforehand), and
2) can go in the dishwasher (saves times washing up after)
3) juices quickly
In more affluent times we had a twin gear one (green power?) Supposed to produce "better" juice but took an age to clean. Lots of fiddley bits to scrub clean with the special brush after, when you'd rather be drinking your juice It did last through its 5 year warranty, motor fine, but cracks appeared in both the twin gears, and the main housing unit which made repairs uneconomical. And it took an age cutting fruit and veg to fit shute, and was slower juicing stuff
Have also tried a magimix le duo...

... but again we found it was a pain to clean (A centrifugal one with a more open basket is easier to clean.)
We love our new one |

Thanks, I've been looking at that on Ebay, recon, so cheaper, but they don't post to France.
So look

Cheaper, oh and it looks like no postage. Troouble is, I have Switch and Credit Cards for UK, and only cheque books for France
Let's see how I get on |

That looks just like the one we've got
(The silver stripe at the top does gradually come off after many goes in the dishwasher, but they warned that would happen and we're not bothered.) |

I've got a mixed Juicer/Smoothy Maker. My only piece of advice.....get to see on the "flesh" so to speak. Some are easier to take apart and clean than others and believe me if it gets to be a drag cleaning, it won't get used as much |

Mine's a bit faffy, but my nan bought it for £2 at her village fete, so I can't complain
It's a fairly basic Kenwood one, but it's pretty good. My fave juice is celery, apple and cucumber - yum! |

As we're now on to recipes, apple based but then with a beetroot, orange, grapefruit, parsnip, carrot in various amounts / quantities of each & then top off with some fresh ginger, a very good start to the day
Cucumber sounds interesting though |

GINGER! Now you're talking. Best kick for the morning for anyone! Our favourite smoothy is any fruit with a half tub of natural yoghurt or Rachels Organic Coconut Yoghurt mixed in with the fruit and milk <drool>
We have a social worker where I work who is also a dietician...very handy and the things she makes and brings into work...makes your mouth water....and juices are her favourite |

| Our school cook has been lent a juicer for a demo sh eis doing - she tried it out with the kids this brek time- they loved the apple juice - but the darn thing dribbled half the juice over the worktop. Was a moulinex. |
