I've seen some cows, but thought I'd wait till spring next year now and get on already in calf. It'll probably take that long for my Swedish to be up to filling in the forms for the equivalent of the CPH number.
They do have jersey crosses here which are very sweet and three lovely traditional breeds coming under the heading of peasant cows. |

Do you know how to calve a cow if she needs help? Could you shove a hand up there and pull it out if needed?
Spring is probably a good idea as at least then you don't need to worry as much about harsh winter weather.
How are you guys getting on over there? I hope you feel it was the right choice and you are really loving it |

LOL
Sorry, but as someone who has seen a fair share of cows having problems calving (OK Dad's boss was an idiot and put them to a much bigger breed and a lot of them had really big calves which they struggled to drop) it's blooming hard work trying to get a calf out if it's stuck and I don't know how easy it is over there to get a vet out in the early hours
On the other hand, once you've cleared it's mouth and nose and she's licking it clean, that's a sight you'd never forget, when it first stands on it's own feet and wobbles everywhere ! |
