The shaggy ones all look the same to me Jan. How do you tell the difference if they all have horns? (I know the obvious way Embarassed , but you can't see in that picture!)

It's the way they part their hair Laughing Laughing

The top pic is a bull - cos he's got his nose turned up sniffing the hormones in the air, there's a cows tail just disappearing off the picture to the left, I bet she's just had a pee. Rolling Eyes

My experience or knowledge of Highland cows amounts to zero so I'm happy to stand corrected by a know all. I was going by the caption I read wrongly.

Sorry guys, I tried hard but the typing finger won Laughing

CP, Highland bulls usually have smaller horns that point to the front or out to the side, altho some do go up but not as much as the cows. My Highland bull Nevis has horns pointing up but they are a different shape to those on the girls. Their faces are broader as well.

Alright , alright I'll shut up now. Laughing

Nah - keep on, I'm impressed, I work with cattle every day, mind you only cows or heifers so I don't see bulls very often. How many have you got? I bet they're an interesting sight in Cornwall. Smile

I guessed there must be some subtle differences, as there was no way of seeing their 'tackle' from that picture! Laughing Laughing
