The amount of knives I've bought in the past, looking for a really good sharp one!
Unfortunately, you can't try before you buy. Mad

Global Knives are fantastic and hold an edge well and are easy to keep sharpened

You can get one for a Kitchenaid, but we got it as a separate standalone device because it had a good rep.

That's always been the problem Mojo - I know the good ones cost money. Even buying a set years ago from Boots with the well-known name Sabatier on them, didn't guarantee me a good sharp knife. Sad
I have also bought a TV chef recommended carving knife set, only to be disappointed with the results. Sad

Not only do you need a sharp knife to cut properly, you also want something that sits well in the hand & is comfortable to use. This is really only something that you can find out when you use it all the time - something you can't do until after it's bought. Rolling Eyes

Perhaps I'll have a look at the Global knives & see if it's worth taking the chance. Confused

Yes they're called Global (a Japanese Manufacturer) , I've had that large Chef Knife 10 years now and as you can see it's still going strong,

Sabatier as far as I know are now a style of knife rather than an actual manufacturer, if you like the style look for Wusthof (Swiss)- they make some fantastic knives or the original Sabatier factory in Thiers, France

To keep them really sharp I use a minosharp water sharpener - very easy to use, requires no skill and I can do all my Global Knives in about 15 minutes.
