|
|
Sooty (LF Maran, ~18months old, been here for 5 months now) seems very ill, sitting still eith eyes closed and visibly straining to pass something. Have palpitated and she has no shelled egg that I can feel. I do remember somone saying that shelless eggs make them feel very poorly while laying? I've given her a few teaspoons of cod liver oil by mouth to help anything pass and put her in a cool dark box with easyily accesible water and food. I can't see what else I can do for her?
She is feeling well enough to get up and run from you when you approach though.... |

| starters and finishers often lay soft or even no shell eggs...dont panic.........cool darkish /shady place to rest lots of cool water, acv at 2 % for one week (in plastic bowl not galvanised).a bowl with fine grit (calcium)and bowl with larger grit(grinding food)and no treats ( cruel i know but for chooks sake) and she will pick up if she is not very ill.best of luck..mojo |

If you give it some time and she can't pass it herself, then maybe try the same things as you would for a hen that is egg bound with a shelled egg?
thread here with more details
Good luck with her - hope she's feeling better soon! |

She's now gurgling like she has fluid on her lungs?? I know they make odd noises passing eggs sometimes though. |

Well, whatever it was seems to have passed as she's up, bright eyed and shouting for corn |

Guess they all have 'off' days sometimes. So glad she's better now. |
