An excellent proper style lemonade that I was raised on during summers of old. Dead easy and very very more-ish.
4 lemons
3/4 lb granulated sugar
2 tsp citric acid
2tsp tartaric acid
2 pints boiling water
Thinly peel the lemons so as not to remove any pith, Juice lemons into a large bowl and add sugar, citric and tartaric acids.
Pour boiling water into 3 pint saucepan, add lemon rind and boil together for two minutes. Strain over sugar, lemon juice etc and stir to dissolve.
Bottle and seal although it is ready as soon as it is cooled.
Dilute to taste, sit back and enjoy. Only just found the recipe so guess what I'm making this afternoon? |

| We make real lemonade all the time, slightly different recipe. Often we add limes as well. |

Yes me,
To make 1.5 litres (2 and half pints)
4 Lemons (unwaxed)
75g (3oz) Caster Sugar (though I often use Granulated)
1.2 Litres (2 pints) Boiling Water
Finely grate the rind from the lemons and place in a heatproof jug with the sugar.
Pour over the water and stir until the sugar has dissolved.
Squeeze the juice from the lemons and strain into the jug.
Strain the whole mix into fresh jug and chill.
I normally start with less water and then dilute it to taste after wards.
In our house with four kids we normally make a batch with 16 lemons at a time, and substitute a lemon for a lime. Or make it with half lemon & half limes. |

Lemons and/or limes are on my shopping list!
Got to be 100 times better than that so-called lemonade from supermarkets! |
