does anyone here know how to make it ,or does anyone use it ,
i'm thinking of making some when all 3 goats are milking which will not be long now Very Happy

I have seen a recipe somewhere Suz - I don't know if you have a library over there but the Melinda Coss soapmaking book is very good . I'll look up the recipe for you after I've made lunch ( using the last few of our eggs, sniff )

thank you for looking heather i was bored after dinner and went for a trawl on the net found a base that could be mixed with milk to make the soap ,natural stuff ,i have to be careful gizzy is alergic to a lot of soap Rolling Eyes

,seems quite interesting it was either look for that or go on ebay Embarassed

Well a lot of them are made using caustic soda to cure them, which seems quite shocking really

magnesuim chloride/ sulphate brings her out in a bad rash it was only because she's doing a level chemistry that she found out Rolling Eyes

I have the book but not made any soap yet!! here is the recipe
Goats milk and ylang-ylang
This is one of my favourite soaps mainly because I find ylang-ylang both evocative and refreshing.It is not a soap that produce a good lather but it leaves your skin feeling wonderfully soft and smooth, try it.
soap style medium/soft with small bubbles
creamy texture
8oz 227g Vegetable fat (shortening)
12oz 340g olive oil
12oz 340g sunflower oil
2oz 57g beeswax
10oz 283g fresh goats milk
41/2oz 127g sodium hydroxide (caustic soda/lye)
1tbsp 15g ylang-ylang essential oil

Grease your chosen mould,Place fat base oils and beeswax in stainless steel or enamel pot over a low heat.Pour the milk into a heavy glass or plastic bowl or jug wearing rubber gloves and eye protection add the sodium hydroxide to the milk and stir until dissolved.When the oils have melted remove from heat.

Place one sugar thermometer in the oils and one in the caustic solution. When both reach an equal temp between 120F 49C and 140F and 60C pour the caustic solution into the oil.stir occasionally until the mixture leaves a trace(this means when you trickle some off the spoon it leaves a line on the surface)should take about 90 mins.

Add the essential oil and stir well pour immediately into the mould and cover with a towel or blanket. Leave to set for 24 hours or until solid.Wearing rubber gloves remove from mould and cut into blocks cover and leave to cure for 4 weeks !

I was put off by the time to impatient, will try some one day as I have a friend in Tasmania that makes and sells soap Good Luck
