Well, its difficult to tell from pics but my Highland calf, Bonny Girl was tiny when she was born. The South Devons are great big strapping things but boy, do they take some nursing through their first 2-3 days.
Like Pumpkins calf, by the way what her name, Bonny was on her feet as soon as she was born, but the others are slow lazy things that wont get up and wont suck most of the time.
Was Pumpkin AI'd, has she had a calf before. She looks a very pretty little cow. Any plans for the calf yet. |

Hi Jan,
Pumpkin was AI'd as we are in a high risk TB area we don't invite bulls in.
She hadn't ever calved before so I was really proud of the way she behaved.
The calf is a beef animal really so won't have a name used but because she comes from good stock I will register with a name but won't use it unless we decide to keep her. |
