I know this is a long shot but do we have a forum member who lives in this area and who knows of allotments with vacant plots. I am fighting a losing battle trying to find one.

Have you tried ringing Dudley council and tried to speak to the allotments officer? They might be able to help with information if you havent already asked.

Yes, thanks Rich, that was my first port of call. I think I have cracked it. All of our local allotments are full but someone is willing to let me work half of their plot and it is quite close to home so I am very pleased. I can't take it over until Sept/Oct because they have produce in it but I am quite excited to get a foothold.

Hi Chris,

I'm not totally sure of numbers required (but you can check with allotment websites easily enough?), that if there are no available allotments in your area and at least 6 people (I think??) want one, that the Council has a duty to provide them under the old Allotments Act.

It would certainly be worth checking out and getting a gang together?
