How old does a cockerel have to be before you can introduce him to a small flock of hens?

As long as he's big enough to look after himself.....I dont know if hens can tell a cock from a hen tho' ???

I know you can't really put 1 hen in with a flock but I thought a cockerel must be different as there's usually only 1 with a number of hens, but, if he was too small, surely they'd peck him, wouldn't they? Confused

A friend of mine has put an Andalusian cock (he's huge) in with a Silkie hen???

Yikes, poor Silkie !!! Shocked
Ive got a bantam LS cock in with a couple of Orps.....hes given up trying to "please" them !!!

They probably will try and pick on him, but hes gotta show them whos boss !

It's better that way round. The Orps are probably having a good laugh about it Laughing
I don't think that silkie will last too long.
