it's come up in the last couple of days as she is groomed a lot we'd have seen it i'm just praying that it is not what i think it is ,it feels solid and is the size of a fist and follows the line of the bone she's 8 weeks off having kids ,she's not in pain i'm going to call the vet on monday ,if she shows signs of pain before i'll call before
what do you think i think it's bad news Crying or Very sad

Where abouts on the goat is it? It could be a haematoma (blood) or an abcess.

ok i think panick is slightly over but not untill vet has seen her on monday , i've just been told that goats often get adscess on their shoulders at the joint of the neck ,i'm breathing a sigh of relief ,we had such a bad year the year before last ,where we lost 5 goats though different things almost gave up
so if something goes wrong with them Sad .
it was my own fault with the others i took on others unwanted goats who hadn't been wormed ect ,
thank you for your suport it really is appercated

Where abouts is it suz?

My bearded collie Gertie has a large lump on her chest inbetween her front legs and a biopsy showed it to be harmless. It came up very quickly as well.

Try not to worry.

it's at the base of the neck on the top of the shoulder blade ,
i just went to a goat forum something i haven't done before and they were disgusing the fact that a lot of their goats had them come up there ,and they seem to think it's caused by splinters when they scatch on a piece of wood ,she's the first goat i've breed on my own always looked after them for others or brought them in and she's a grade a old english ,there's not many of them Smile ,i'm sure she'll be fine Confused i hope the garlic and fenugreek might be helping although it smells like the goats have been out for a curry Very Happy

That sounds promising then, if its something common (and not serious) for other goats to get.

I know what you mean about the garlic - I thought I'd be clever and put some in Ellie's water bowl one day last week. Thought it would be good for any bacteria in her mouth etc. Don't know what's worse: dog breath, or garlic breath Laughing
