i've decieded that i'm going to make a goat cart ,i've got old english which are far to intelegent for their own good or mine i've been thinking about it for a long time but with help from a post on here it relighted my interest ,they do some lovely ones in the states but i've been told how to make one so i'm going to give it a go ,i'll have to order the harness from the states i think ,they can help carry hay or just be a talking piont at the local shows which they love
lots of ginger biscuits

it will not be till next year ,i've got to see if i can teach her the comands ,and get hold of the harness ,seems we don't do a lot of it in britain, there is more stuff from germany and the states ,
it'll give her something to do ,other than just being milked and eatting though ,any tips on building the cart would be usefull though

My father in law was a very skilled wheelwright, cart and coffin maker untill he retired 10 years ago at 81, he'll be 91 in a few weeks time and is now blind Hes made carts for Shetland ponies but never for a goat. Looking forward to the pics.
Is there a traditional colour to paint them? |

know idea jan ,your father in law sounds like a hell of a man ,that is such a skilled job ,i'm afraid that it's going to be a bodge job against something like that ,they tend to be made by the amish (the people who don't use cars ) in the states and they are lovely

I found some for sale on eBay, but they tend to be the antique, expensive ones! |

Who me?
Nah, i used to have two pet goats Toffee and treacle, an old whether and a doe that needed a home, but they were very troublesome things!!!
I'd need more land and higher fences were I to get some more, but I'm not ruling it out. If I can somehow get out of having to leave for work at 7 and get home at 8 I'd give it some more thought... |
