Whats the general feeling here guys?
We are in north east Scotland, should I be looking at bringing the girls inside? I don't think they would like it after roaming round at will but if needs must so be it..
Should I clear the big shed out just in case?

| I would - we are in Shetland but are half expecting them to want birds kept under cover. We have tarps at the ready to go over the existing run and hubby is planning a seperate run and house for the ducks so they have more room - they free range the garden with the hens atm. Not panicing - just not wanting to be caught out. |

I would prepare & clear out your shed just in case.
Just how far from Fife are you?
We have everything prepared should we need to house them. Had to buy a new shed & OH has lost his workshop for the forseable future.
Small price to pay I think, but it means it'll take longer for him to finish my kitchen. (that's his excuse anyway!) |

Mine are coming in,
the pekins were penned anyway to keep them out of the mud, but the rest, ducks as well will be in from now on |

We're in Dufftown Choco. As it stands we are not anywhere near the zone described, however I reckon if the zone were to be extended by a similar size again, then it would reach us. However, from what the Chief Vet said on the news conference, the area has been defined according to the distribution of mute swans. I'm not sure how we fit in to that pattern, thoguh clearly there are resident swans in places such as Cooper Park.
We are away to Edinburgh on Saturday for a week. I'm hoping any extension to the 'keep indoors' zone doesn't come about while we are away. |

I think it's probably sensible to make sure we all have 'just in case' contingency plans, even if we (hopefully) don't need to use them.
Fingers crossed for all those near to the affected area. |

Thanks for your input. We are 8 miles outside Elgin on the Moray coast. so we are a good way away from Fife. However the big shed clear-out will begin tomorrow so its ready if needed. |

Hi folks,
unfortunately we're in the larger risk area - hens going in their covered run now. They won't like it but then there you go.
Wish us luck! |

Good Luck you guys up there.
I'm intrigued that it is in a domestic swan, and wonder how long it has been in the country? |
