Hi I'm just being nosey If you could only keep one or two breeds of chicken what would you all choose I've just been asked that by a friend. I only have Light Sussex and hybrids but its not an easy one to answer but I think I'd choose cuddly Light Sussex. I know its a very hard question but I'd love to know which breeds you all really, really, really like. |

For me, I've always wanted (and now have) Buff Orpingtons.
I also have Light Sussex and they are my second favourite. (I say as I'm looking out of the window at the path covered in soil as they are slowly emptying my veggie patch onto the path...)
I love traditional British Fowl! |

I started off wanting just large fowl,
then I discovered pekins there's 24 of them now
second favorite would either be appenzellers or leghorns |

beep is really funny ,she is a french weaton maran ,she was the only one to hatch out of a batch of 12 ,and lived in the house for 7 weeks in a big dog cage we have, she still isn't laying even with being nearly a year old ,there is some pics of her in the gallery ,if you held her like a bady craddled on her back she goes to sleep ,debs has met her ,she's quite flighty but if you've got a food bowl she'll land on your head and moan because she isn't getting any ,

I've got 14 breeds here and all have their merits.
If I had to choose just one, it would have to be the Barnevelder.
I think they are the right size and temperament for a garden unit, they are thrifty, intelligent, inquisitive and friendly.
Yep, the Barnevelder for me.

"I love traditional British Fowl! "
I have *just" the website for you... www.traditionalbritishfowl.co.uk If anyone wants their fave breed on a mug or card or notepaper etc, i can do that! See website for more details...
I like neat, clean, handsome, 'gamey' types, hamburgs, marsh daises, OEPF, OEG, derby redcaps, modern game...all kinda similar in some ways. I also like the look of polish and malays for soemthign a bit different! |
