Hi all,

Around here all the Brits I know who have chickens have them under cover, though I still see the French blatantly ignoring the regulations.

At the March monthly market at Les Herolles chickens were being sold from the backs of lorries (I didn't go there this month myself, but I'm told this by a friend who bought birds there that day - I know this to be 100% true as I clipped the birds wings for them).

Whilst I can understand the frustration of the dealers and breeders (who must be feeling the pinch) it seems that some of the French just ignore the regulations and the powers that be do nothing!

I bet if I let my birds out there'd be all hell let loose and it wouldn't be just my chickens locked up inside! Confused

Mark

probably Rolling Eyes it brings to mind my uncle who had six cows kept in tiny stalls in his back garden in italy ,he'd built it with no planning and it was in the middle of the town ,people complained and he was told that he had to go to prison for a week ,but the judge told him he could do the time when he needed a holiday from the wife ,and he was allowed to keep it Shocked

You have every right to complain Mojo. You might have chosen to live there but the community as a whole is benefitting from your being there ~ financially if nothing else.
