I know nothing about sheep, so what is it with the mothers, why do they peg it? I have heard farmers say the a sheep's main aim in life is to die, but when they've just had a baby lamb or three you would think that would get them going.

Do the lambs have to be fed through the night Debs?

some of them will be triplets, some will get abandoned and some ewes just don't make enough milk
You can get away with 3 big feeds a day but they do better on 4 hourly feeds for the first 2 weeks then miss out the night one

That's almost true, but only after they've stomped on you feet as many times as they can and headbutted you in the privates Crying or Very sad

One of Dad's bosses pedigree Leicesters had 4 lambs, 2 weren't viable, and there was 1 each boy/girl left. As she was his best ewe he decided to take the gimmer off her and just leave the tup lamb, which she promptly rolled over and killed, it could have been worth over £10k had it lived Crying or Very sad

Yeah, can't imagine he was very happy about it, but it's a fact of life in farming. But the 400 strong swaledale flock will be lambing from now on, so he'll be too busy.
