Cat has a large patch of sticky fur on his back. I think underneath the densist fur in the world he may have something going on. I tired to shampoo him with the shower the other night, amazingly he didn't go beserk around the bathroom. I then dried him off with a towel, he was amazingly good then, and later I got the hairclippers in an effort to get to the problem. The hair is sooo dense and matted, it wouldn't clip, so I used scissors but again not much good.
Mark will take him to the vets, but just wondered what could be going on??

I think it could be a number of things - most of which are absolutely nothing to worry about and will heal up fine. Best thing is just to wait and see what the vet says, because you really need to see what's going on to get an idea of what might be causing it.

Worst bit will probably be that they will have to clip the fur away completely to see what's under there, so he may come back with a very bad hair doo! Poor kitty - hope he doesn't end up with a cold spot, and the other cats don't take the mickey out of him too much Confused Wink

Very Happy

We took him to the vets on Friday, after checking thoroughly she decided to clip his fur back, stronger clippers than ours. He now has a shaved patch just in front of his tail. Skin intact, no sign of any problem. I think he had probably rolled in something sticky.

Oh dear and all that worry NannyP. Still on the bright side summer's coming so it will get warmer, we are reliably informed. But more important at least he didn't have the mange ~ very difficult to get rid of I believe

Has he had the snip NannyP. Sometimes at this time of year tom cats do what boys do, and do it over each other and it makes the fur sticky. Laughing
