| One of my chooks has had an egg in the breech since yesterday evening - her behind is poushed out and red. I dont know how long it should tajke her to lay, or whether she is egg-bound. Unless she laid that one this morning and now has another pushing her rear end out? is that possible? |

Bring her in & isolate her in a warm place if you haven't already. If it's red & protruding the others may peck at it & make it bleed as they are attracted to the colour red.
It could be a prolapse after laying an egg, or if she has 1 stuck you will need to help remove it.
Can you see an egg there?
I think there is some info in the wiki that deals with this problem so you could have a look there first.
Ask more questions if you need to though. |

| she seems fine in herself, and when i picked her up to check it, its a soft red egg shaped protrusion below her vent, not coming from her vent, and i cannot feel an egg in there. its featherless too - though i dont know if thats normal or due to her being ex-batt. any ideas what it is?? |
