A farmer friend of mine has just been round and said that he's heard there is an outbreak in Switzerland. I've not been able to find any confirmation - anyone else heard this?? |

| I haven't heard anything, but it wouldn't surprise me, they are more or less surrounded by countries that have it already |

I'm getting 'page not found' for the link, sorry
I tried to find the link myself on BBC, but look at one of their headings...
In depth coverage of the avian flu pandemic
it's the pandemic bit that makes me angry we don't have that yet, do we? |

| but it's not an epidemic over a wide geographical area is it ~ when you consider the numbers who have caught it and the area we are talking about. |

Not a human one perhaps, but an avian epidemic/pandemic I suppose. |

Sorry, I was thinking human ~ I got it wrong, sorry everyone.
But to be fair there haven't been that many birds dying from it either ~ just masses of them being culled, or so it seems ~ but then again we would never know how many of the culled ones actually had it I suppose. |

| afraid the media need to keep it in perspectif...........more people die in motor accidents in china in ONE day than all killed by bird flu..............bird flu is like human flu .......some varieties worse than others....some kill the old the sick and the young ...some only make you feel bad....bird vaccination may mask the symptons so spreading the risk.........but the thing to do is act sensibly HYGEINE of the highest you can manage including boot baths and rubber gloves and try to stop wild birds and their feaces getting near your chooks..............mojo |
