It appears that the governments 'management' of the problem is on a par with its 'management' of foot and mouth. It had an agenda prior to F&M to reduce the domestic farm animal population as we had 4 million too many in their opinion and were paying out far too much in subsidies and hey presto Foot and Mouth arrived so the best thing was to sit by and let it all happen.Prevention by vaccination was "far too expensive" and would "mask" the disease carriers.

Coincidentally death toll of domestic cattle and sheep approx 4 million!! Confused

there was then a national shortage of beef and lamb which had to be imported for months Confused

Funny how similar all the official speak is on the current situation.

Or at least it would be funny if it didnt affect the lives of so many birds and the people who keep them and have to deal with the situation in the absence of a proper intelligent policy

the regulated poultry industry is profitable easily controlled and not at high risk as the birds are mostly all indoors.

What is not in the governments control are the tens of thousands of small flocks of birds on small farms, hobby farms and hobby poultry keepers gardens. What better way to bring them all under control too!

synical----you bet Evil or Very Mad

i am obviously a total cynic as well then rich, as i think that before long we will all have to register no matter how many/few we keep, and wether we keep for ourselves/sell.give away eggs etc.
im also "confused" as to defras argument of vaccine hiding real virus.....i was under the impression that a "marker" vaccine that differentiated between "real" and vaccinated flu antibodies was on the go........ am i wrong in that??
obviously holland/france/italy etc have it all totally wrong, and we are right regarding vaccination being useless Shocked Shame on you......yeah right!! Evil or Very Mad
