I would think so, it's pretty tough stuff, much stronger than say chicken wire

Try 'phoning Duncan Brymer at Agrigame UK.Ltd.(01886 884004) He keeps a good stock of netting, including Weldmesh in 25metre rolls, 6ft. high. I've just bought some from him for our dog run. About £150 for 25meters from memory.
he has nationwide delivery.

16 is thicker than 19 - swg is the number of wires laid side by side to an inch. I use 19g it's approx 1.25 mm thick. It's fairly strong and probably much easier to handle than 16g. And 16g cost 3 times as much
