|
|
I finished my postings here and went to let the girls out this morning.
Oh my god. The fox has managed to remove the nesting boxes and seems to have taken three of my girls
I found most of niblet at the back of the garden and piles of nugget and brenda coloured feathers else where.
Then to top it all i fell down the garden steps and have badly twisted my ankle.
I phoned in sick to work and now am about to hobble out and establish fox knox out there. The other half is coming home from work as i am in such a state. I thought having lost one of the oven readies the other day i had made the house checks more thorough. I guess that just alerted foxes to the presence of the girls.
4 in a week. What a waste of life. |

You are right. Shock is beginning to subside to practicalities now.
The good news is that i have one light sussex and two oven readies left so i guess they won't be bullied any more! The three that are left are completely unharmed and seem considerably less upset by the whole thing than i am! |

Oh Madslg I'm so sorry to hear that! We were thinking we could come to see them soon too!
But they did have a wonderful new home, if only briefly, after the hell of being in a battery cage.
Let me know if there is anything we can do, won't you? As we live fairly close. |

CP - you are welcome to come visit the remaining three girls.
I have just been out there now and the two remaining oven readies are having a real good dust bath! I think that they may secretly be relieved as they are now firmly top of the pecking order and poor Betty is a bit out on a limb.
Aren't they incredible - here's my been weeping and wailing and they are having a dust bath despite having nearly been eaten... |

| That's chickens for you. The rest of my lot didn't seem to worry about - they were more concerned about getting their mash! |

Sorry to read your news Sarah , that's just terrible .
To all you fox lovers . This is what they are truly like, cruel vicious killers with no remorse. are there any gun men in your area that are willing to do a steak out at your place one night.
if he`s paying regular visits. they should be able to squeak for it. And humanly move him on with a gun.I know that might shock a few of you, but the sadness of losing some thing you care about makes for drastic measures. |

It is great to have so much support - thanks.
Have just returned from B&Q with stuff to make house fox proof so OH is now out there fixing for me - and he hasn't taken the micky for hours so it must be serious! Either that or a justified reason for him to use lots of power tools for a proper reason? Still, I cannot complain if it makes the girls safer! |
